Perseus, the son of Zeus went on a quest to kill kill might gorgon Medusa, so that his mother would be protected from Polydectes, who was trying to marry here. He was given a sword, winged shoes and a shield by his father Zeus and by Athena. He travelled to Medusa's lair, and decapitated her head off!

Perseus' sword is pictured here.

This was one of the biggest 'hero achievments' of Greece, as Medusa could turn anyone to stone if they looked or if she gazed at them. When Medusa died, the great unicorn Pegasus exploded from her head, which scared Perseus. This sword was obviously another great divine weapon of the mythical ages. Without it, many other stories wouldn't have existed today.
